Growth should not be the objective of
companies, however growth is the life blood of a company.
For a business profit is like oxygen and growth is like food to the body.

developing ideas. It is the process of finding the
best areas to grow toward. Then the idea development
typically follows suit.
As we develop our growth strategies we
like keep a practical orientation in mind, looking for
ways to achieve sales overnight and branding overtime.
The growth strategies ideally come from
an understanding of what your BrandPoint is and then discovering
those growth options that will both be most profitable and most
appropriately extend your BrandPoint strategy to provide
growth.
An example: Frito-Lay has a commanding market share in the
salty-snacks business. Estimates of the growth of the
salty-snack category were single digit, while growth
expectations were aggressive double digit. We
were challenged to determine were they would obtain that double
digit growth
from. What new segments, new categories, or new markets could
Frito-Lay grow toward. We determined the broad
opportunity areas and then followed that work with actual
business building ideas that are now in the market and
making substantial amounts of money.
