Strategy

Strategy is a misunderstood concept by many business people.

A strategy is not an objective or a tactic.  A strategy sort of sits in between the two.  If something is "Strategic" it means it puts you in an advantageous position visa vie your competition or in the view of your  customers.

When we develop strategies we are guided by find that position of advantage.  Long-term, sustainable advantage.

Your company may have an objective to grow or to improve in some way.  Hopefully your company will have a more evolved objective relative to some grand vision.  Strategies then become the way to put yourself in a position of strength to achieve a goal or objective.  Tactics then flow from strategies.  They are the ideas and implications that come from discovering a strategy that will best enable you to achieve your objectives.
